Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the graph, but the analysis is somewhat superficial. While you identify the trends for the film club, martial arts, and amateur dramatics, the description of the musical performances and table tennis is vague, lacking specific data points from the graph. Furthermore, the claim that the film club remained at 65 million throughout the period is inaccurate based on typical graph interpretations, and the unit 'millions' is likely an error in your interpretation of the data scale. To reach a higher band, ensure you provide specific figures for all categories mentioned and avoid over-generalising trends without supporting data.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally awkward, such as 'As an overall' and 'Where as'. The progression of ideas is logical, moving from an overview to specific category trends, but the transitions between sentences could be smoother. Referencing is generally clear, but the lack of variety in linking words limits the flow. Improving the range of cohesive devices would enhance the overall readability and logical progression of the report.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. You rely on repetitive phrasing such as 'number of individuals' and 'counts of people'. There are also some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'lined graph' instead of 'line graph' and the misuse of 'inverse' when describing the musical performances. Spelling errors like 'miilions' also occur. To improve, focus on using more varied synonyms for 'increase' and 'decrease' and ensure accurate terminology for describing data trends.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'As an overall, it can be noticeable', 'registered constant number of counts', and 'as same as in 2020'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before commas. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct preposition usage will significantly improve your accuracy.
