Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which negatively impacts the score. While you have identified the main trends, the analysis is incomplete. You mention that the film club and martial arts remained constant, but you do not provide the specific data points to support this. Furthermore, the summary is cut off at the end, leaving the final sentence unfinished. To improve, ensure you cover all categories with supporting data and provide a complete, coherent overview. The failure to reach the word count and the incomplete final sentence indicate that the task was not fully addressed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as the awkward transition 'Comparingly there is sonme' at the end. The logical progression is hindered by the incomplete final sentence and some disjointed phrasing between sentences. While the overall structure is clear, the lack of sophisticated linking words and the abrupt ending prevent a higher score. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of cohesive devices like 'in contrast', 'subsequently', or 'meanwhile' to connect your ideas more fluidly.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. You rely on basic verbs like 'raise' or 'increased' repeatedly. There are also several errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'material arts' (instead of martial arts) and 'dramatical' (instead of dramatic). The phrase 'muscular performance' is also an unnatural collocation for a social centre activity. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise reporting verbs and nouns, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', or 'a significant surge', and ensure you check the spelling of key terms related to the graph.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'there raise in its participants' (incorrect verb usage), 'the have increased' (missing subject), and 'since 2000 to 2020' (incorrect preposition usage). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before commas. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors limits the score. Focus on subject-verb agreement and correct preposition usage to improve your accuracy.
