Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response effectively covers all requirements of the task. You have identified the main trends and provided relevant data points to support your descriptions. The overview is clear and highlights the key movements across the period. However, to reach a higher band, ensure that comparisons are more explicit; for example, when discussing the 'skyrocketing' table tennis participation, you could directly contrast it with the decline in amateur dramatics to show a more sophisticated synthesis of the data. The information is accurate and the selection of features is appropriate for a summary.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The response is logically organized with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. You use cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'In addition to this', and 'On the other hand' to guide the reader. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different categories of activities. While the flow is generally smooth, some transitions feel slightly mechanical. To improve, ensure that the referencing is always precise; for instance, ensure that the subject of each sentence is clearly linked to the previous one to maintain a tighter logical progression throughout the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary for the task, including terms like 'fluctuation', 'skyrocketed', and 'significant fall'. There are some minor issues with word choice and collocation, such as using 'contestants' for social centre activities, where 'participants' or 'members' would be more natural. Additionally, you used 'a incline' instead of 'an incline'. While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise control over collocations and articles to reach a higher band level.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as 'Although musical performance was only introduced in 2005, the number of participants has been rising'. There are some grammatical slips, such as subject-verb agreement errors ('the number of participants... have not changed' should be 'has not changed') and article usage ('a incline' should be 'an incline'). Despite these errors, the meaning remains clear throughout. To improve, focus on ensuring subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage when describing historical data.
