Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, as it is only 107 words long. Furthermore, the response is incomplete; it ends abruptly mid-sentence ('After that in amateur dramatics') without finishing the analysis of the final category or providing a comprehensive summary of all trends. While the introduction and overview are present, the failure to complete the task and the significant under-length penalty mean the response does not address all parts of the prompt. To improve, you must ensure you cover all data points provided in the graph and complete your analysis before the conclusion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response is organised into short paragraphs, but the lack of completion severely impacts the logical progression of the text. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Firstly' and 'In terms of', but the abrupt ending prevents the development of a coherent argument or summary. The referencing is generally clear, but the overall structure is fragmented due to the unfinished nature of the writing. To improve, focus on completing your sentences and ensuring that each paragraph flows logically into the next, providing a clear summary of the data trends.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but limited in range. You use some appropriate terms like 'fluctuated' and 'participants', but there are errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'In therms of' (instead of 'In terms of') and 'line graphs compares' (subject-verb agreement error). The range of vocabulary is insufficient to demonstrate a higher level of precision. To improve, try to incorporate more varied synonyms for describing trends, such as 'experienced a marginal decline' or 'remained relatively stable', and ensure you proofread for basic spelling and collocation errors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Examples include 'the highest number of participants recorded for film club' (missing 'was'), 'it rose nearly about 68' (awkward phrasing), and 'reached at about' (incorrect preposition). These errors, while not always impeding communication, are frequent enough to affect the overall quality. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction, specifically ensuring that your verbs and prepositions are used correctly. Practice using a wider variety of complex sentence structures while maintaining accuracy.
