The graph below gives information on the numbers of participants for different activities at one social centre in Melbourne, Australia for the period 2000 to 2020.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

 

 

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The bar graph depicts details of how many people took part in a social centre in various activities in two countries for a 20-year period.

Overall, it is clear that participation in most activities increased over the given period, except for a few that declined or remained flat.

Additionally, the film club was consistently the most popular activity throughout the entire 20-year period.

Looking at the details, film club started from 65% in 2000 and drooped slightly during 2010, it again rose to 67% in 2020.

Martial arts fluctuated during the whole period.

Following this, amateur dramatics begins with 25% which then slumped dramatically to 8% in 2020. A noticeable growth was seen in table tennis which rose from 18% in 2000 and ended up with roughly 55% in the year 2020. In contrast , musical performances remained at its lowest initially and it climbed moderately to 20% in 2020.
