Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to summarize the main features, but it fails to provide a clear or accurate overview. The data reporting is inconsistent and often confusing; for instance, the mention of '10% difference' is unclear, and the description of trends is fragmented. Several key data points are missing or inaccurately described, such as the incomplete final sentence. The response lacks a cohesive summary of the trends over the twenty-year period, and the information provided is not sufficiently developed to meet the requirements for a higher band. To improve, ensure all activities are clearly tracked and that the overview highlights the most significant trends rather than listing isolated figures.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. While some cohesive devices are used (e.g., 'To begin with', 'Furthermore', 'In the end'), they are often used mechanically or to introduce information that does not follow a clear analytical path. The referencing is sometimes unclear, and the transition between the description of different years is disjointed. The final paragraph is particularly abrupt and incomplete, which disrupts the overall flow of the report. Improving the logical connection between sentences and ensuring each paragraph has a clear focus would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The range of vocabulary is limited and repetitive. You rely heavily on basic terms like 'number', 'increase', and 'drop'. There are also some inaccuracies in word choice and spelling, such as 'muscial performances activitiy' and 'table tenis'. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the basic meaning, it lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. To improve, try to incorporate more specific reporting verbs and nouns related to data trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'peaked', 'remained stable', or 'a marginal increase'. Expanding your repertoire of academic collocations will help you describe the graph more effectively.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Issues include incorrect preposition usage (e.g., 'during first two decades'), missing articles, and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'during the last ten years of time'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing around commas and percentages. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to distract the reader. Focusing on subject-verb agreement, correct article usage, and refining sentence structure will help you achieve greater accuracy and clarity in your future writing tasks.
