Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
You have successfully identified the main trends and provided relevant data points to support your descriptions. However, there are significant inaccuracies in your data reporting. For instance, you state the film club figure decreased to 79 in 2010, but the graph shows it was significantly lower. Additionally, you mention 'musical performances' in your introduction, but this category is not present in the graph provided. While you cover all categories, the misinterpretation of the data points and the inclusion of an incorrect category prevent a higher score. Ensure you double-check the axes and labels before writing your summary.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and you use some cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Subsequently', and 'In contrast' to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally disrupted by repetitive sentence structures and some awkward phrasing. The final paragraph is particularly disjointed, as it introduces a new category ('musical performances' implied or mislabeled) without clear transition or context. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, unified focus rather than jumping between different activities.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'fluctuations', 'marginally', and 'gradually'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'preference of doing' instead of 'preference for' and 'martial performances' which is not a standard term for the activity shown. There is also some repetition of the word 'trend' and 'figure'. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise synonyms and ensure that your collocations are natural and accurate in the context of describing statistical data.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. For example, 'the number participants started in 2005' is missing a preposition, and 'tennis table trend' should be 'the table tennis trend'. There are also issues with subject-verb agreement and article usage throughout the text. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to affect the overall clarity of your report. Focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, particularly regarding articles and prepositions.
