Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the graph, identifying the trends for all three activities. However, the response is 141 words long, failing to meet the 150-word minimum requirement. This under-length significantly impacts the ability to fully develop the analysis. While the overview is clear and the data points are accurate, the lack of sufficient length means the response is penalized under the task achievement criterion. To improve, ensure you provide a more detailed analysis of the data points or include a concluding summary that synthesizes the trends more thoroughly to meet the word count requirement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The response is logically organized with a clear introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for the body content. The progression of ideas is easy to follow, and the writer uses cohesive devices such as 'In detail', 'However', and 'After that' to link sentences effectively. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different activities. The flow is natural, and the information is presented in a way that is easy for the reader to navigate, which is a strength of this piece.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary used is appropriate for the task, with accurate use of terms like 'fluctuated', 'declined significantly', 'rose marginally', and 'remained stable'. The range is sufficient to describe the trends in the graph with precision. There are no significant errors in word choice or collocation that impede meaning. While the range is not particularly sophisticated, it is adequate for the task and demonstrates a good level of control over the required terminology for describing data.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The response demonstrates a good control of grammar with a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. The sentences are generally error-free, and the punctuation is used correctly. The writer successfully uses past tense forms to describe the historical data, which is grammatically accurate. While the range of structures is not highly complex, the accuracy is high, and the writing is clear and professional. There are no major grammatical slips that distract the reader.
