Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers all parts of the task by identifying the main trends for the five activities. You successfully highlighted the growth in table tennis and the stability of the film club. However, the report is somewhat descriptive, listing data points rather than synthesising information. For instance, you could have grouped the activities by their trends (e.g., those that increased versus those that declined) to provide a more analytical overview. While the main features are present, the comparison between categories could be more sophisticated to reach a higher band. The overview at the end is functional but could be better integrated into the introduction or as a separate paragraph following the introduction.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organised with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a summary. You use some cohesive devices such as 'thereafter', 'moving further', and 'overall' to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical or repetitive. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the final sentence of the body paragraph ('...remained the same and.') contains a grammatical error that disrupts the flow. Additionally, the referencing of data could be smoother; at times, the progression feels like a list of facts rather than a cohesive report on the trends shown in the graph.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'fluctuating trend', 'steady growth', and 'witnessed a slight decrease'. These are appropriate for describing data. However, there is some repetition of basic structures and vocabulary (e.g., 'number of participants' is used repeatedly). To improve, try to use synonyms or vary the sentence structure to avoid repeating the same noun phrases. There are no significant spelling errors, and the vocabulary used is sufficient to convey the intended meaning clearly, though it lacks the sophistication required for higher bands.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While many sentences are clear, there are several grammatical inaccuracies. For example, 'a slight increase in participants were observed' should be 'was observed' (subject-verb agreement). Similarly, 'the musical performances were started' is an awkward passive construction; 'musical performances started' would be more natural. You also have issues with pluralisation, such as 'the number of participants in table tennis were 15', which should be 'was 15'. These errors are frequent but do not impede overall communication.
