Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have successfully identified the main trends and provided a clear overview of the data. You covered all five activities and made relevant comparisons, such as noting the film club's popularity and the growth of table tennis. However, the report could be improved by ensuring all data points are accurate; for instance, you mentioned amateur dramatics declined to 8, but the graph shows it ending closer to 10. Additionally, while you mention the start and end points, more precise comparisons between the activities at specific intervals would strengthen the response. Overall, you have addressed the requirements of the task well.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The response is logically organized, with a clear introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs that group the information effectively. You use cohesive devices such as 'In contrast,' 'although,' and 'finally' to guide the reader through the data. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different trends. To reach a higher band, ensure that the transition between sentences is more fluid and avoid slightly repetitive sentence structures when describing the trends. The progression of ideas is clear and easy to follow throughout the report.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'participation levels,' 'steady growth,' and 'gradually decreasing.' There are some minor errors, such as 'significants increase' (should be 'significant increase') and 'Amateur drametics' (spelling: 'dramatics'). While you successfully convey the meaning, the vocabulary is somewhat functional. To improve, try to incorporate more varied synonyms for 'increase' and 'decrease' and ensure accurate word forms. The errors present do not impede communication, but they do limit the score in this criterion.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as 'although it dipped slightly... it recovered.' However, there are several grammatical slips, including 'Table tennis at around 20 participants' (missing a verb), 'starting 25 participants' (missing a preposition), and 'last musical performance were' (subject-verb agreement error). While these errors are frequent, they do not prevent the reader from understanding the data. To achieve a higher score, focus on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and ensuring that every sentence contains a clear, correctly conjugated verb.
