Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the score. While you have identified the main trends, the analysis is underdeveloped. You mention the figures for various activities, but the reporting is often fragmented and lacks the necessary detail to fully describe the data. For example, you state 'the highest participants figure 65 in film club', but you do not clearly explain the starting point or the full trajectory. To improve, ensure you provide a more comprehensive overview and include more specific data points to support your comparisons, ensuring you meet the length requirement to allow for a full development of the task.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive start. However, the logical progression is hindered by the lack of cohesive devices. You rely on simple transitions like 'in contrast' and 'whereas', but these are often used incorrectly or repetitively. The sentences within paragraphs do not flow smoothly, and the referencing is sometimes unclear, such as 'this figure steadily rise in 2000'. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'in comparison to') and ensure that your sentences are connected logically rather than just listing data points.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

Your vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. You frequently use the word 'figure' and 'value' to describe the data, which makes the writing monotonous. There are also several spelling errors, such as 'Melbourn', 'Austtalia', 'singificant', and 'matrial'. Furthermore, the word choice is often imprecise; for instance, 'fastly increased' is not standard English, and 'demolished' is an inappropriate verb to describe a decline in participation numbers. To reach a higher band, you should work on using more precise verbs (e.g., 'surged', 'plummeted', 'fluctuated') and ensure that you are using vocabulary that is appropriate for an academic report.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The grammatical range is limited, consisting mostly of simple sentence structures. There are frequent errors in verb tense and sentence construction, such as 'participants took part various activities' (missing a preposition) and 'this figure steadily rise' (incorrect tense). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several run-on sentences and missing articles. The use of 'fastly' is a grammatical error, as it is not a standard adverb. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence structures, ensuring subject-verb agreement, and using correct verb tenses consistently throughout the report. Practicing complex sentences with subordinate clauses will also help increase your score.
