Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response covers all five activities and provides a clear overview of the trends. You successfully identified the main features, such as the stability of the film club and the dramatic decline in amateur dramatics. However, the report could be improved by more precise data reporting. For instance, stating 'in the beginning of the year' is vague; it should specify 'in 2000'. Additionally, the comparison between table tennis and musical performances is accurate, but the description of the trends could be more analytical by grouping the activities based on their performance (e.g., those that increased versus those that declined or remained stable).
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs. You use a range of cohesive devices such as 'Overall', 'In detail', 'Furthermore', and 'By contrast' to guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical or misused, such as 'Consequently' at the start of the second sentence, which does not logically follow the previous statement. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the overview from the specific data points. The progression of ideas is generally clear, though the flow between sentences could be smoother with more varied linking phrases.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'fluctuated', 'plummeted', and 'significantly'. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'considerably similar trends' (which is slightly redundant) and 'in the beginning of the year' (when referring to a decade-long period). Spelling is generally accurate, though 'amateure' is misspelled. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise academic collocations and avoid repetitive phrasing when describing trends.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors that slightly impede the flow, such as 'in between 2000 and 2020' (the 'in' is unnecessary), 'reached at 5' (should be 'reached 5'), and 'in the 2000' (the article is incorrect). Additionally, 'musical performance considerably shows' should be plural to match the subject. While these errors do not prevent understanding, they occur frequently enough to limit the score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions will help improve your accuracy.
