Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers all key features of the graph, including the trends for each activity. You successfully identified the highest and lowest participants and noted the changes over time. However, the overview is slightly repetitive, and some data points are described with minor inaccuracies (e.g., stating the film club was 'stable' when it shows slight fluctuations). To reach a higher band, ensure that the overview highlights the most significant trends rather than just listing individual activities. The data selection is generally accurate, but ensure that comparisons are more explicit to demonstrate a clear understanding of the relationships between the different categories.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the general trends from the specific data points. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'and' or 'in'. Some transitions between sentences feel abrupt. To improve, try using a wider variety of linking words and phrases (e.g., 'In contrast,' 'Conversely,' 'Furthermore,' or 'As for...') to create a smoother flow of information between your ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the information, using terms like 'gradually increased,' 'sharply increased,' and 'relatively stable.' However, there are several word-choice errors and awkward phrasings, such as 'their strength increased' (referring to participants) and 'experience who fall in numbers.' These errors occasionally hinder the precision of your writing. To achieve a higher score, focus on using more natural collocations and ensure that your vocabulary is used in the correct grammatical context. Avoid repeating the same structures when describing trends.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('The line graph illustrate,' 'Martial arts were remained') and incorrect preposition usage ('at 2020' instead of 'in 2020'). Additionally, there are tense inconsistencies and awkward phrasing that affect the clarity of your sentences. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage.
