Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
You have successfully identified the main trends and provided a clear overview of the data. You covered all five categories and made relevant comparisons, such as noting that the film club remained the most popular while musical performances were the lowest. However, the report lacks precision in some areas; for instance, you describe the film club's trend as 'slightly declined' and then 'increased', but you do not provide specific data points for the intermediate years to support these claims. To reach a higher band, ensure that all key features are supported by accurate data points from the graph, and avoid vague descriptions when specific figures are available.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The response is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, body paragraphs for the categories, and a concluding overview. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Looking first at', 'Meanwhile', and 'In contrast' to guide the reader. However, the flow is occasionally hindered by repetitive phrasing, such as 'number of participants' appearing in almost every sentence. Additionally, the transition between the description of the film club and martial arts is a bit abrupt. Improving the variety of linking words and using referencing (e.g., 'this figure', 'the former', 'the latter') would help the text flow more naturally.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'fluctuated', 'stable', and 'dramatic declined'. However, there are several instances of awkward collocation and word choice, such as 'slightly risen up' (should be 'risen slightly') and 'number of participants' being repeated excessively. There are also minor errors in word form, such as 'dramatic declined' instead of 'dramatic decline' and 'pariticipants' (spelling). To improve, focus on using a wider variety of synonyms for 'increase' and 'decrease' and ensure that nouns and verbs are used in their correct grammatical forms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'film club have more number' (subject-verb agreement), 'same number of participants as year 2000' (missing article), and 'it then slightly risen up' (incorrect verb tense/form). While these errors do not prevent the meaning from being understood, they are frequent enough to limit the score. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles, and try to incorporate more varied complex sentence structures with greater accuracy.
