The graph below gives information on the numbers of participants for different activities at one social centre in Melbourne, Australia for the period 2000 to 2020.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

 

 

Student answer (Band 7.0)

The line graph shows how many people took part in different activities at a social center in Melbourne, Australia, from 2000 to 2020.

Overall, the number of participants in the film club remained high and relatively stable. In contrast, the number of participants in amateur dramatics declined sharply during the period.

In 2000, approximately 65 people participated in the film club. This figure fluctuated slightly before reaching 70 in 2020. Meanwhile, the number of people participating in amateur dramatics started at 25 and fell considerably to 5 in 2020. The participants in martial arts fluctuated over the period, starting from 35 and remained at 36 with the addition of just one participant.

In addition, musical performers began participating in 2005 and increased over the following fifteen years from 0 to 15. Furthermore, the number of participants in table tennis was 17 in 2000, before increasing dramatically from 2010 onwards, reaching 55 in 2020.
