Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the task achievement score. While you have identified some main features, the analysis is superficial and lacks the necessary detail to fully describe the trends. For instance, you mention that musical performances 'soared' and table tennis 'rocketed', but you do not provide specific data points or clear comparisons between the activities. Furthermore, the inclusion of speculative commentary—such as suggesting a 'modification' occurred in 2010—is inappropriate for an Academic Task 1 report, which should focus strictly on the data provided. To improve, ensure you cover all categories and provide specific figures to support your observations.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is poorly structured, with very short, disjointed paragraphs that do not facilitate a logical flow of information. While there is an attempt at an overview, the transition between ideas is abrupt and lacks cohesive devices. For example, the use of 'Furthermore' and 'Hence' is mechanical and does not effectively link the sentences to create a cohesive argument. The conclusion is extremely brief and fails to provide a meaningful summary of the data. To improve, focus on grouping related information into clear paragraphs and using a wider range of linking words to connect your observations more naturally.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and contains numerous spelling errors, such as 'idividuals', 'varity', 'excersises', 'socail', 'amateure', 'staied', and 'appearantily'. These errors are frequent and occasionally distract the reader. While you attempt some descriptive verbs like 'soared', 'rocketed', and 'plummeted', the overall range is narrow. You rely on repetitive phrasing and lack the precision required for describing statistical data. To improve, focus on learning the correct spelling of common academic terms and expanding your repertoire of collocations used to describe trends, such as 'a significant increase' or 'a gradual decline'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that impede clarity. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('the chart is fluctuate'), tense usage ('2010 was a year were some activites surged'), and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or poorly constructed, such as 'To conclude activites fluctuated'. The range of grammatical structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences with errors in basic punctuation and word order. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring correct verb tenses, and proofreading your work to eliminate simple slips in grammar and punctuation.
