Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response successfully identifies the main trends and provides a clear overview. You have selected key features, such as the film club's popularity and the significant growth of table tennis, and made relevant comparisons between the categories. The data is generally accurate, although there are minor issues with the presentation of the 'musical performances' data (e.g., 'started with scratch'). To reach a higher band, ensure that all data points are described with precision and that the overview clearly synthesizes the most significant trends across the entire period rather than just listing them.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs focusing on different activities. The progression of ideas is generally smooth. However, the use of cohesive devices is occasionally mechanical or slightly awkward, such as the abrupt transition in the final paragraph ('while musical performances started...'). Additionally, some sentences are fragmented or lack proper linking, which affects the flow. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear thematic focus would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'significant growth', 'fluctuations', and 'upward trend' effectively. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'started with scratch' (which is non-standard) and 'an remarkable' (a grammatical error affecting lexical precision). To improve, focus on using more precise collocations for describing trends and ensure that articles are used correctly with adjectives. The vocabulary is sufficient to convey the meaning clearly, but lacks the sophistication required for a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement ('The number of participants... were') and punctuation issues (e.g., starting a sentence with 'Beginning with...'). There are also minor errors in preposition use and article placement. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and sentence fragments would significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
