Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response covers all key features of the graph, including the trends for all five activities. You have successfully identified the main features, such as the rise in table tennis and the decline in amateur dramatics. However, the overview could be more precise; for instance, stating that film club remained the 'highest' is accurate, but the description of the musical performance is incomplete as it lacks a clear starting point or a complete sentence structure. While the main features are reported, the analysis of the data could be more integrated to better highlight the comparisons between the activities throughout the period.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Conversely' and 'Overall', to link ideas. However, the progression within the final paragraph is weak; the sentence 'Only musical performance activity started in 2005 and number of participants for the activity from 10 to 15 by 2020' is grammatically incomplete and lacks a clear connection to the previous points. Paragraphing is used, but the transition between the general overview and the specific data points could be smoother to improve the overall flow of the report.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'surged', 'fluctuations', and 'substantially'. These words help convey the trends effectively. There are some minor issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'as compare to' instead of 'compared to' and 'number of participants for the activity from 10 to 15', which is missing a verb. To reach a higher band, focus on using more varied and precise reporting verbs and ensuring that your comparisons are phrased naturally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you successfully use some complex sentences, there are several grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. For example, 'The Martial arts remained stable' (unnecessary article) and 'Number of participants for these activities were highest' (missing article). The final sentence is a fragment, as it lacks a main verb to describe the change in participation. Improving your control over articles and ensuring every sentence has a clear subject-verb structure will significantly enhance your score.
