Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers all parts of the task by identifying the main trends and making relevant comparisons. You have successfully highlighted the key features, such as the Film Club's dominance and the decline of Amateur Dramatics. However, the report lacks precision in data reporting. For instance, you mention '65 at the end' for the Film Club, but the graph shows a different figure, and your description of the timeline for Musical Performances is slightly inaccurate. To improve, ensure that data points are read more carefully from the axes and that the overview clearly synthesizes the most significant trends rather than just listing them.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The response is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the information. You use some cohesive devices like 'On the other hand' and 'However' to signal shifts in the narrative. However, the flow is occasionally disrupted by awkward phrasing and repetitive sentence structures. The transition between the overview and the body paragraphs is somewhat abrupt, and the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical rather than natural. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear thematic focus would enhance the logical progression of your report.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'fluctuations', 'drastic decline', and 'constant'. However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and non-standard collocations, such as 'amount of multiple socials activities' and 'roseing figures'. Additionally, there are spelling errors like 'matrial art' and 'sucessfully'. To reach a higher band, you should focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensuring correct spelling and word formation. Expanding your range of synonyms for describing trends would also be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'socials activities shows'), incorrect verb tenses (e.g., 'Table tennis become'), and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'ended to just 5 number of participants'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly regarding the use of commas. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Focusing on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and tense consistency is essential.
