Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers all key features of the graph, including the trends for each activity. You successfully identified the main trends, such as the film club being the most popular and the sharp increase in table tennis participants. However, the overview is slightly cluttered; it would be more effective to group the activities by their overall trend (e.g., those that increased versus those that fluctuated or declined). Additionally, some data points are slightly inaccurate or vague, such as stating musical performances were 'not introduced till 2005' when the graph shows them starting at zero in 2005. Ensure your data reporting is precise to reach higher bands.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the information. You use some cohesive devices like 'Overall,' 'On the other hand,' and 'whereas' to connect ideas. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the transition between the overview and the body paragraphs could be smoother. The use of referencing is generally clear, but the structure within the body paragraphs could be improved by grouping related activities together rather than listing them individually, which would create a more cohesive narrative.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'fluctuated,' 'inclined sharply,' and 'reached its peak.' However, there are some spelling errors, such as 'amature' (amateur) and 'armature' (amateur), which detract from the professional tone. The vocabulary is generally functional but lacks the variety and precision required for higher bands. To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated synonyms for 'increased' or 'decreased' and ensure accurate spelling of key terms related to the activities described.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'People participating in film club was' (should be 'The number of people... was'), and issues with article usage (e.g., 'in 2000 to 2020'). There are also minor punctuation and preposition errors throughout. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent use of articles will significantly improve your accuracy.
