Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the score. Furthermore, the task is only partially addressed. While you identify the film club and martial arts club, you fail to report on the other activities shown in the graph, such as the table tennis or musical improvisation clubs. The overview is missing, and the data selection is incomplete, as you stop mid-sentence when describing the martial arts club. To improve, ensure you provide a clear overview of the main trends and cover all categories presented in the visual data.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response shows some attempt at logical sequencing, but the abrupt ending and lack of a concluding summary hinder the overall flow. Paragraphing is present, but the transition between the introduction and the body is mechanical. The use of cohesive devices like 'Furthermore' and 'But' is somewhat repetitive and basic. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear purpose, such as grouping similar trends together rather than listing data points in isolation. The lack of a cohesive structure makes the text feel disjointed.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. You rely on basic phrasing such as 'number of participants' and 'grown up'. There are also several errors in word choice and form, such as 'peridor' (period), 'beggining' (beginning), and 'growth' used as a verb instead of 'grow'. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise reporting verbs and nouns, such as 'fluctuated', 'experienced a decline', or 'reached a peak'. Expanding your range of vocabulary to describe trends accurately is essential for a task of this nature.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'The given line graph provide' (subject-verb agreement), 'the number also has been decreased' (incorrect passive voice usage), and 'stop at point 60' (missing article/preposition). The sentence structures are mostly simple, with limited attempts at complex sentences. To improve, focus on mastering subject-verb agreement and the correct use of tenses when describing past data. Proofreading for basic errors like missing articles and incorrect verb forms will also help improve your accuracy significantly.
