Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response covers all key features of the graph, including the trends for all five activities. You successfully identified the main trends, such as the dominance of the film club and the dramatic growth of table tennis. The overview is clear and highlights the most significant changes. However, the report could be improved by ensuring data points are consistently accurate; for instance, you mentioned amateur dramatics fell to '3', which is a specific detail that adds value. The comparison between categories is generally well-handled, though some parts of the data description could be more precise to fully meet the requirements for a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. The progression of ideas is clear, moving from the general trends to specific data points. You use cohesive devices such as 'In contrast', 'Meanwhile', and 'However' to link ideas effectively. While the paragraphing is appropriate, the transition between the overview and the body paragraphs could be slightly smoother. The use of referencing is generally clear, though some sentences feel slightly disjointed due to minor errors in sentence structure, which occasionally affects the flow of information.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey information clearly. Phrases like 'take the dominance', 'most significant growth', and 'fell significantly' are effective. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'in compare with' (should be 'compared to') and 'being stable' (should be 'remained stable'). Additionally, 'marginally up to' is not standard phrasing. While these errors do not impede communication, they prevent the response from reaching a higher band. Expanding your range of synonyms for 'increase' and 'decrease' would further enhance your score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('film club take' instead of 'takes', 'amateur dramatics... becomes' instead of 'became') and preposition errors ('varying over 31 and 36' instead of 'between'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are minor slips that occur throughout the text. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the data, they are frequent enough to limit the score. Focusing on consistent verb tense usage—especially when describing past data—will help improve your accuracy.
