Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response covers all key features of the graph, including the overall trends and specific data points for the five activities. You successfully identified the main trends, such as the dramatic increase in table tennis and the decline in amateur dramatics. However, the description of the film club is slightly inaccurate; you noted it remained the highest, but the graph shows it was overtaken by table tennis by 2020. Additionally, the overview could be more concise by focusing on the most significant movements rather than listing every activity. Overall, the information is well-selected and provides a clear summary of the data provided.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. The progression of ideas is clear, moving from general trends to specific comparisons. You used cohesive devices such as 'Overall', 'On the other hand', and 'Furthermore' to link ideas effectively. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and the punctuation around these devices could be improved (e.g., '2005.,after'). Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the overview from the detailed analysis, which helps the reader follow the information easily. Overall, the structure is coherent and easy to follow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to describe trends, such as 'increased dramatically', 'significant surge', and 'continuously declined'. There is some awareness of collocation, though some phrasing is slightly repetitive or imprecise, such as 'martial arts sector' or 'at end it reached at its starting level'. While you successfully use some less common items, there are minor inaccuracies in word choice. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more varied synonyms for 'increase' and 'decrease' and ensure that collocations are used more naturally in context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While many sentences are clear, there are several minor grammatical errors, such as missing articles ('at one social center', 'at end'), punctuation issues (the period before the comma after '2005'), and minor preposition errors ('reaching its peak at almost 52'). These errors do not impede communication, but they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, focus on proofreading for small errors like missing articles and ensuring consistent punctuation after introductory phrases or transition words.
