Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers the main features of the graph, but the analysis is somewhat inconsistent. While you identify trends, the description of the data is occasionally inaccurate or vague, such as describing the martial arts trend as 'stabled' when the data shows fluctuations. Additionally, the overview is slightly confusing; for instance, you mention a 'vast rise' in table tennis, but the data shows a significant drop between 2000 and 2010 before a recovery. To improve, ensure that your overview highlights the most significant trends clearly and that your supporting data points are precise and correctly interpreted.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or misused. For example, 'Whereas, in amateur dramatics game' is grammatically awkward and does not function well as a transition. The use of 'Although' at the start of a sentence to introduce a contrast is also occasionally misused, as seen in the second paragraph. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words will help the flow of your ideas significantly.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but there are several instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors. Phrases like 'candidates for various tasks' and 'amateur dramatics game' are not natural in this context; 'participants' and 'activities' would be more appropriate. You also use 'inclined' incorrectly to describe a trend; 'increased' or 'rose' would be better. There is a limited range of vocabulary, and some terms are repeated, which restricts your ability to convey information with precision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('the number of players were'), incorrect article usage ('in same period'), and awkward phrasing ('which were faced minor drop'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma placement. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement will help.
