Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5

The response effectively addresses all parts of the task. You have provided a clear overview of the main trends and successfully selected and reported key features for all five activities. The comparisons are relevant, such as noting the contrast between the upward trend of table tennis and the decline in amateur dramatics. The data is accurately represented, and the inclusion of specific figures supports your observations well. To reach a higher band, ensure that the overview highlights the most significant differences or similarities more explicitly, perhaps by grouping the activities by their overall trajectory (e.g., those that grew versus those that declined).

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5

The response is well-organized with a logical progression of ideas. Each paragraph has a clear focus, moving from the introduction to the overview, and then into detailed body paragraphs. Cohesive devices such as 'In contrast', 'However', and 'before rising again' are used effectively to link information. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the flow of information is smooth throughout the text. The referencing is clear, and the structure allows the reader to follow the trends easily without confusion.

Lexical Resource — Band 7.0

You demonstrate a good range of vocabulary appropriate for a task of this nature, using terms like 'fluctuated', 'upward trends', 'considerably', and 'reaching a peak'. The word choice is generally precise and contributes to a professional tone. While the vocabulary is accurate and sufficient, incorporating a few more sophisticated collocations or varied synonyms for 'increased' and 'decreased' would elevate the response further. There are no spelling errors, and the language used is natural and fits the context of describing statistical data.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.5

The response displays a good variety of sentence structures, including complex sentences that combine information effectively. Grammatical control is strong, with very few errors. You have used a mix of simple and complex forms, and the punctuation is accurate. The tense usage is consistent, correctly reflecting the past time period provided in the prompt. The majority of your sentences are error-free, which indicates a high level of grammatical competence. There are no significant slips that impede communication.
