Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all key features of the graph, including the overall trends and specific data points. You successfully identified the most popular activity (Film club) and the contrasting trends of the other categories. However, the description of the data is occasionally imprecise, such as saying 'reached at peak point' or 'reached at under 30', which slightly obscures the clarity of the information. To improve, ensure you focus on reporting the data accurately and concisely without unnecessary prepositions. Overall, the main features are well-selected and the overview provides a clear summary of the trends.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices like 'Meanwhile', 'In comparison', and 'However' to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally interrupted by mechanical phrasing, such as 'after this time period' or 'reached at peak point'. The transition between sentences could be smoother to improve the overall progression of the argument. Paragraphing is used appropriately, and the information is grouped logically by activity type, which helps the reader follow the comparison.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'fluctuated', 'upward trend', and 'participate'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'reached at peak point' (should be 'reached a peak') and 'had not introduced' (should be 'had not been introduced'). These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your writing. To reach a higher band, focus on using more sophisticated collocations and ensuring that verbs are used in the correct voice.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The writing contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt to use complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with prepositions and verb forms, such as 'than stable' (should be 'then remained stable') and 'going to declined' (should be 'declined'). There are also minor issues with article usage and subject-verb agreement. While these errors are noticeable, they rarely impede the reader's understanding of the data. Increasing your control over verb tenses and sentence structure will help improve your score in this area.
