Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, as it is significantly under-length at 107 words. Furthermore, the response is incomplete, ending abruptly mid-sentence. While you have attempted to identify some main features, such as the film club's popularity, the analysis is underdeveloped and lacks a comprehensive overview of all data points. To improve, you must ensure you complete the task by covering all trends and comparisons shown in the graph and meeting the minimum length requirement to allow for a full development of your ideas.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response shows a basic attempt at paragraphing, but the abrupt ending severely impacts the overall coherence. You have used some basic cohesive devices like 'Overall' and 'To being with', but the flow of information is disrupted by the incomplete nature of the text. The logical progression is hindered because the analysis is cut off before the data can be fully explained or compared. To improve, focus on completing your sentences and using a wider variety of linking words to connect your ideas more smoothly throughout the report.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is quite limited and repetitive, such as the repeated use of 'activity' and 'participant'. There are also errors in word choice and phrasing, such as 'To being with' instead of 'To begin with' and 'at the year of 2000' instead of 'in 2000'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to demonstrate the flexibility required for higher bands. You should aim to use more precise terminology related to data description, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', or 'experienced a significant increase', to enhance the quality of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('the activity is film club has', 'this number are') and incorrect preposition usage ('at the year of 2000'). The sentence structures are simple and lack the complexity needed for higher scores. Because the response is incomplete, it is difficult to assess your ability to use a range of complex structures. Focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring correct verb tenses, and proofreading for common errors like article usage and pluralization.
