Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers all key features of the graph, including the trends for the farmclub, table tennis, and other activities. You successfully identified the main trends and made relevant comparisons, such as noting the decline in amateur dramatics and the rise in table tennis. However, the report lacks precision in data reporting; for instance, you mention 'averages at about 65 participants' without clearly referencing the specific start and end points or the fluctuations shown in the graph. To improve, ensure that you provide more specific data points from the axes to support your descriptions, rather than relying on general observations. The overview is present but could be more clearly integrated to highlight the most significant trends.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The response is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Overall' and 'From 2000's till the period of 2020', to guide the reader. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the use of linking words could be more varied. For example, the transition between the overview and the body paragraphs is abrupt. Additionally, some referencing is slightly unclear, such as 'martial remains steady', where the subject could be more explicitly stated. Improving the use of cohesive devices and ensuring smoother transitions between ideas would enhance the overall coherence of the report.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'undisputed winner', 'fluctuations', and 'massive popularity'. However, there are several spelling and word-choice errors, such as 'non existant' (non-existent), 'attendies' (attendees), and 'partcipants' (participants). These errors do not impede communication but indicate a need for more careful proofreading. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary and ensure correct spelling of key terms related to data description. The range is sufficient to convey the main points, but the lack of precision in word choice limits the score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as '2000's till the period of 2020' (the apostrophe is unnecessary here), 'it's partcipants' (should be 'its'), and 'martial remains steady' (should be 'martial arts'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While you attempt complex sentences, they are often marred by these minor errors. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of possessive pronouns. Increasing the accuracy of your sentence construction will help you achieve a higher band score.
