Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response covers the main features of the graph, such as identifying the most popular activity (film club) and the least popular (musical performances). However, the analysis is inconsistent. For instance, the description of 'Mortal arts' (likely martial arts) and 'Armature dramatics' (amateur dramatics) lacks precision, and the data points mentioned are often unclear or inaccurate compared to the visual information provided. The overview is present but lacks a clear summary of the overall trends, such as the general decline in participation for most activities. To improve, ensure that data points are accurately transcribed and that trends are described with more clarity and logical grouping.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the progression of ideas is often disjointed. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes inaccurate, such as the transition 'During the decade the participants were fluctuated their interest.' Referencing is also problematic; it is not always clear which activity the sentences are referring to. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider range of linking words (e.g., 'in contrast,' 'subsequently,' 'meanwhile') and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus that flows logically into the next.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and often imprecise. There are several spelling errors, such as 'Mortal arts' instead of 'martial arts' and 'Armature' instead of 'amateur.' The phrasing is frequently unnatural, for example, 'the number of population get decline.' The range of vocabulary is insufficient to describe trends effectively; instead of using varied verbs like 'plummeted,' 'soared,' or 'stabilised,' the writing relies on repetitive and basic structures. Expanding your repertoire of topic-specific vocabulary related to data description is essential for improvement.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Musical performances was the least number'), incorrect verb tenses, and awkward sentence construction (e.g., 'the number of population get decline'). While there is an attempt at complex sentences, they are often faulty, leading to confusion. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence structures and ensuring consistent tense usage when describing past data. Proofreading for common errors like pluralisation and article usage would also significantly enhance the clarity of your writing.
