Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers all key features of the graph, including the overall trends and specific data points for the various activities. You successfully identified the main trends, such as the sharp surge in table tennis and the decline in amateur dramatics. However, the description of the film club data is slightly confusing; you mention it has 65 participants in 2020, then a drop, then a rise back to 65, which is difficult to follow without clearer chronological sequencing. To reach a higher band, ensure that data points are presented with greater precision and that comparisons between categories are more explicitly linked to the timeline provided.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. The use of cohesive devices such as 'Overall', 'Conversely', and 'Additionally' helps guide the reader through the information. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the internal cohesion within the third paragraph is hampered by the confusing sequence of the film club data. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the flow between sentences could be improved by using more varied linking phrases to connect the trends of different activities rather than listing them one by one.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'fluctuation', 'sharp surge', 'marginal rise', and 'gradual decline'. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'occupants level' (which is not appropriate for activity participants) and 'most number of participants' (which should be 'highest number'). While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the meaning, it lacks the sophistication and precision required for higher bands. Expanding your repertoire of reporting verbs and collocations related to data trends would enhance your score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'The film club have' (subject-verb agreement), 'at single social center' (missing article), and 'table tennis sport' (redundant). Additionally, the phrasing 'observes a mild drop to 63 and 62 attendees level' is somewhat awkward. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles would significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
