Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response covers the main features of the graph, but the reporting is inconsistent and contains factual inaccuracies. For example, you state that amateur dramatics dropped to 5 in 2020, but the graph shows a different trend. Additionally, the description of the musical performance starting at 0 in 2005 is not clearly supported by the data provided. While you attempt to make comparisons, such as noting that table tennis overtook other activities, the lack of precision in data reporting hinders the overall clarity. To improve, ensure that every figure cited matches the graph exactly and focus on grouping data logically rather than listing individual fluctuations.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical flow is disrupted by repetitive phrasing and awkward transitions. Phrases like 'More in depth it can be seen' and 'Further examination shows' are used, but the connection between sentences is often mechanical. The referencing is sometimes unclear, such as 'increased at same it start first 40', which makes the progression of ideas difficult to follow. Paragraphing is present, but the internal structure of the paragraphs lacks the cohesion required for a higher band. Using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring clear pronoun referencing would significantly improve the readability of your report.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is somewhat limited and repetitive, relying heavily on basic verbs like 'increased', 'decreased', and 'rose'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'participants of film club' (should be 'participants in the film club') and 'members quantity is 0'. The expression 'at same it start first 40' is unclear and indicates a struggle to express data trends accurately. To reach a higher band, you should incorporate more precise terminology for describing trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'peaked', or 'remained stable', and work on using more natural collocations when discussing group participation.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. Issues include missing articles ('at a social center'), incorrect prepositions ('participants of'), and awkward sentence construction ('participants of film club in 2000 a year declined'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas and capitalization. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and sentence structure prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct article usage will help improve your accuracy.
