Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response covers the main features of the graph, but the analysis is inconsistent and occasionally inaccurate. For instance, the description of the film club's trend is repetitive and confusing, and the claim that musical performance was 0 in 2005 is not supported by the provided data. While you identify some trends, the lack of precision in reporting figures and the failure to clearly compare the activities throughout the period limit the score. To improve, ensure that every data point mentioned is accurate and that you group information logically to highlight key trends rather than listing individual changes in a disjointed manner.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is often unclear. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes inappropriate, such as the transition 'More in depth it can be seen that', which does not flow naturally from the previous paragraph. Referencing is also problematic; for example, the phrase 'at same it start first 40' is difficult to follow. Paragraphing is present, but the internal structure of the paragraphs lacks logical flow, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison of the different activities over the twenty-year period.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The range of vocabulary is limited and repetitive. You frequently use basic terms like 'increased', 'decreased', and 'rose'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'contributors of film club' instead of 'participants' and 'contestants' used for table tennis, which is not the most natural term in this context. Some phrasing is awkward, such as 'in the figure in 2020'. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use a wider variety of verbs and nouns to describe trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'peaked', or 'remained stable', and ensure your collocations are more precise.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include incorrect verb tenses ('again rise for 65'), missing articles, and awkward sentence construction ('participants of film club have marginally decreased to 60 but then increased in 2020 to 65'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas and capitalization. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and sentence structure prevents the response from reaching a higher band.
