Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers the main features of the graph, but the presentation is inconsistent and lacks clarity. While you identify some trends, the description of the data is often confusing or inaccurate, such as stating that 'Musical performance members quantity is 0 in 2005' when the graph shows a different starting point. The overview is present but lacks a clear summary of the most significant trends, such as the overall growth of table tennis compared to the decline in amateur dramatics. To improve, ensure that you accurately transcribe data points and focus on clear, comparative statements rather than listing individual fluctuations.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the logical progression is frequently interrupted by awkward phrasing and unclear referencing. For example, the transition 'More in depth it can be seen' is clunky, and the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or misused. The connection between sentences is sometimes weak, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison of trends over time. Improving the use of linking words such as 'consequently', 'in contrast', or 'meanwhile' would help create a smoother flow between your observations.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary range is limited and often repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'increased' and 'decreased' throughout the text. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'contributors of film club' (should be 'participants') and 'members quantity' (should be 'number of members'). Some phrasing is unnatural, which hinders the precision of your report. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate a wider variety of verbs and nouns related to data description, such as 'fluctuated', 'peaked', 'remained stable', or 'a significant rise'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the response, including issues with subject-verb agreement, article usage, and sentence structure. For instance, 'contributors of film club in 2000 which declined' is a sentence fragment. You also struggle with prepositions and tense consistency, such as 'rose of 65' instead of 'rose to 65'. While you attempt some complex structures, they are often faulty, which can cause confusion for the reader. Focusing on basic sentence accuracy and ensuring that every sentence has a clear subject and verb will significantly improve your score.
