Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response covers the main features of the graph, but the presentation of data is often inaccurate or confusing. For instance, stating that 'Musical performance members quantity is 0 in 2005' is a specific detail, but the overall summary lacks a clear, analytical overview of the trends. The description of the data is frequently disjointed, and the comparisons between activities are not always logical. To improve, focus on grouping the data by trends (e.g., activities that increased versus those that declined) rather than listing individual data points in a way that obscures the overall picture.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is often unclear. While some cohesive devices are used, such as 'Moreover' and 'In conclusion', they are sometimes applied mechanically or inappropriately. The referencing is occasionally confusing, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison between the different activities. The logical flow is hindered by sentences that do not connect well to the previous ones, leading to a somewhat fragmented reading experience. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear thematic focus would enhance coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There is a reliance on basic terms like 'increased', 'decreased', and 'rose'. Some word choices are awkward or incorrect, such as 'contributors of film club' (should be 'participants') and 'members quantity'. There are also issues with collocation, such as 'at same it start first 40'. To reach a higher band, you should incorporate more varied and precise vocabulary related to data description, such as 'fluctuated', 'peaked', 'remained stable', or 'experienced a downward trend'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'between the 2000 and 2020' (incorrect article usage), 'contributors... was 65' (subject-verb agreement error), and 'Amateur dramatics contestants first have dropped' (incorrect tense). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas and spacing. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and sentence construction prevents the writing from reaching a higher band score.
