Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to cover the task by describing some activities from the graph, but it fails to provide a fully accurate or coherent summary of the main features and comparisons. For instance, the writer states that people were more interested in the film club in the early years and mentions table tennis, but the descriptions are overly vague, inaccurate in places, and lack precise data support. While all parts of the graph are touched upon minimally, the ideas are under-developed and fail to present a clear, structured overview as required by Band 5 descriptors.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.5

The essay is divided into short paragraphs, but there is a lack of clear overall progression and logical linking between sentences and ideas. Cohesive devices are minimal or misused, leading to a choppy and disjointed reading experience. For example, sentences such as 'In the beginning year people were less interested in table tennis, but after some year people started to take part...' show repetitive and inadequate referencing. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal flow within paragraphs prevents the text from achieving a higher band score.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.5

The lexical range is limited and frequently repetitive. The student relies on basic vocabulary and struggles with appropriate collocations and word choices, such as 'vast number of majority', 'less satisfied', and 'normal interest'. There are noticeable errors in word forms and phrasing (e.g., 'fascinating from martial arts' instead of 'fascinated by martial arts'). While the message is sometimes communicated, the vocabulary errors and lack of less common items restrict the score to Band 4.5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

The text contains a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple sentences with frequent structural errors. Examples include 'These activities are being held at specific social centre' (missing article) and 'people take interest in it year by year'. Attempts at complex structures are often faulty or awkward. Grammatical errors are frequent throughout the response and occasionally cause difficulty for the reader in discerning the intended meaning, aligning well with the Band 4.5 descriptors.
