Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The student attempts to cover the main features of the chart, providing an overview and mentioning data for several activities such as the film club, martial arts, and table tennis. However, the response suffers from significant inaccuracies in reporting data, such as claiming 'no one join in Musical performances' when the graph likely shows participants, and misinterpreting years like '20120'. Furthermore, the description of trends is somewhat vague and imprecise, stating that figures 'suddenly raise' or 'decreased for few years'. While the prompt is generally addressed, the task response is hindered by underdeveloped descriptions and data misreporting, placing it firmly at a Band 5.0 level.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The text is organized into paragraphs, with an introduction and separate body paragraphs dedicated to different activities. However, the overall progression is difficult to follow due to repetitive phrasing ('The ratio of...', 'after that the ratio...') and mechanical use of cohesive devices. Referencing is frequently unclear, leaving the reader confused about which activity or year is being discussed, especially with awkward transitions like 'Furthermore, this also gives information'. Paragraphing is present, but internal cohesion is faulty and repetitive, characteristic of a Band 5.0 performance.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The student's vocabulary is very limited and repetitive, heavily relying on words like 'ratio', 'players', 'participant', and 'increase/decrease'. There are frequent inappropriate word choices and collocations, such as 'players of different media activities' and 'work as a Martial arts' instead of 'participants in martial arts'. Spelling and morphological errors are also present, such as 'increasced', 'participant' instead of participants, and typos like '20120'. The lexical range is minimally adequate for conveying basic information, but frequent errors cause strain for the reader, aligning with Band 4.5 or 5.0; a score of 5.0 is appropriate given the attempt at task-specific vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

The response features a very limited range of grammatical structures, consisting mostly of simple and awkwardly constructed complex sentences. There are frequent and systematic errors in basic grammar, subject-verb agreement, and tense consistency, such as 'This illustration give information', 'Amateur dramatic increasced', and 'no one join'. Punctuation errors are also apparent, including missing spaces and run-on phrasing. Because attempts at complex structures are almost invariably flawed and frequent errors cause difficulty, the grammar falls into the Band 4.0 to 4.5 range, with 4.5 reflecting the understandable core message despite heavy inaccuracies.
