The graph below gives information on the numbers of participants for different activities at one social centre in Melbourne, Australia for the period 2000 to 2020.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 6.5)
The line graph track changes in the number of participants for different activities at one social centre in Melbourne, Australia for period 2000 to 2020.
Overall, the higest number of participants are recorded in film club over the entire time period. The number of participants in amateur dramatics and table tennis are equal in 2010 before the number of particpantsin amateur dramatics saw decreasing trend, while the number of participants for table tennis skyrockted. Moreover, musical performances started in 2005 and has seen gradual increase in participation rate ever since.
To begin with, film club has the higgest number of participants from 2000 to 2020, which remained mostly stable at 65 members. Similarly, martial arts club has been consistent throughout the entire time period with the second highest participation till 2010 having members between 30 to 40. On the contrary amateur dramatics started with 26 members in 2000 then saw slight increase in 2005 reaching about 30 members, before experiencing a steep decrease and stoping at 10 members in 2020. Furthermore, table tennis started with 18 members in 2000, having exact number of participants as amateur dramatics in 2010, before experiencing a dramatic increase in its number of participants and becoming the group with second highest participanys from 2015 to 2020. Whereas, musical performances started in 2005 and saw increase in number of participants eversince.
