Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The student attempts to cover the main features of the line graph, providing an overview and mentioning several categories such as the Film club, Table tennis, and Amateur dramatics. However, there are significant issues with data interpretation and expression. The student consistently mislabels numerical values as percentages (e.g., 'with the percentage of 62' and 'percentage of 1'), even though the y-axis clearly measures the 'Number of participants'. Furthermore, some data points are misread or vague, such as stating that musical performance started with 1 participant (when the graph shows 0 in 2000 and 2005, starting at 12 in 2010). The overview is also simplistic. Consequently, the response addresses the task only partially, aligning with Band 5.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response is divided into paragraphs, including a brief introduction and an overview. However, the logical progression is hindered by awkward transitional phrases like 'At the fleeting glance' and 'After half decade'. Cohesive devices are often inaccurate or mechanically applied, and referencing is occasionally confusing (e.g., 'in these games Table tennis, Amateur dramatics and Martial arts were ranges from 15% to 38%'). Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal structure of the body paragraphs lacks clear thematic grouping, leading to a disjointed flow. This reflects the characteristics of Band 5.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is quite limited and repetitive, heavily relying on basic terms such as 'participants', 'activities', 'game', and 'students'. There are noticeable errors in word choice and lexical control, notably the persistent misuse of 'percentage' instead of the number of participants. Other awkward phrasing includes 'Musical performance game started in this year' and 'wereas inclining'. These lexical shortcomings and inaccuracies cause some difficulty for the reader, placing the response firmly in Band 5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but these are frequently marred by basic grammatical errors. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('number of participants... is', 'participants... were ranges'), missing articles, and awkward prepositional use ('contributed in Table tennis was increasing upto 2020'). Punctuation and sentence structures often lack precision, and errors occur frequently throughout the text. However, meaning is generally decipherable, supporting a Band 5 score.
