Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The student attempts to cover the main features of the chart, providing an overview and selecting data points to report. However, there are notable inaccuracies in the data reporting. For instance, the student states that martial arts started with 45 volunteers and experienced a hovered increase, whereas the graph indicates it started at around 36 and fluctuated modestly. Similarly, table tennis is referred to as 'tennis ball' and key data points contain inaccuracies. Despite these errors in data precision, the student does attempt to summarise the main trends and make comparisons, fulfilling the core requirements at a basic level.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response is organised into distinct paragraphs, including an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs detailing specific trends. Cohesive devices are attempted (e.g., 'Meanwhile', 'however'), but their usage is sometimes awkward or mechanically applied. Logical progression is occasionally disrupted by confusing referencing and inaccurate data reporting. Paragraphing is present and helps structure the text visually, but overall the flow between ideas lacks seamless connection.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, attempting less common items such as 'escalation', 'culminating', and 'fluctuation'. However, there are numerous spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text (e.g., 'qunatity' instead of quantity, 'center' instead of centre, 'Astralia' instead of Australia, 'fasinating', 'senond', 'amd', 'muscial', 'droped', 'orginal', 'paticipants', 'volunters'). These errors detract from the quality of the writing, though the meaning can generally be understood.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures (e.g., relative clauses and participial phrases). However, grammatical accuracy is weak, with frequent errors in tense consistency, article use, and prepositions (e.g., 'Film club was the top from the beginning having...', 'did not included', 'over period'). Punctuation and capitalization are also problematic, with lower-case letters used at the start of sentences and for proper nouns like 'melbourne, Astralia'.
