Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The student successfully addresses all parts of the task by reporting the main features, trends, and making relevant comparisons across the five activities. The overview clearly highlights that the film club was the most popular overall and table tennis came second, while amateur dramatics saw the least participation by the end of the period. Key data points are cited accurately, such as the film club starting at around 64 and table tennis experiencing a dramatic increase from 16 to approximately 53. However, there is a minor chronological slip in the fourth paragraph ('14 participats in 2002', which should be 2015 based on the graph timeline). Overall, the information is well-selected and fully meets the requirements for this band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The response is logically organised with a clear overall progression. It begins with an introductory statement, followed by an overview paragraph, and then detailed body paragraphs grouping the trends effectively. Cohesive devices are used reasonably well, such as 'Specifically', 'Meanwhile', 'Moreover', and 'On the other hand'. Paragraphing is handled appropriately, ensuring that different activities and their trajectories are discussed in distinct sections. Referencing is generally clear, though occasional transitional links feel slightly mechanical.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary suitable for describing graphical data, including terms like 'participated', 'minimally increased', 'dramatically increased', 'marginally increased', and 'declined sharply'. There are some attempts at less common lexical items and collocation, though a few minor inaccuracies or awkward phrasings occur, such as 'most people were involved in the film club which recorded the highest activity'. Spelling is generally accurate, with just one noticeable typo ('participats'). The lexical range is sufficient for precision and flexibility in task execution.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The student demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing relative clauses ('which recorded the highest activity') and contrastive structures ('however in 2005 people started...'). There are some good examples of error-free sentences, alongside a few grammatical slips and awkward prepositional uses, such as 'individuals engaged in the film club were around 64 participants' (where 'number of participants' would be more precise) and the awkward clause construction 'reached to 14 participats'. Punctuation is generally sound, and these minor errors do not impede communication.
