The graph below gives information on the numbers of participants for different activities at one social centre in Melbourne, Australia for the period 2000 to 2020.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 6.5)
The line graph presents the data on the total number of people that took part in a range of activities at one social centre in Melbourne, Australia, between 2000 and 2020.
Overall, it is evident that the film club dominated with a large number of participants, while the amateur dramatics accounted for fewer people. There was a dramatic increase in the participants for the table tennis after half a decade.
The film club participants were just over 60 at the start of 2000, and it remained stable throughout the years between 60 and 70. The martial artists also fluctuated between 30 and 40 during that period. The amateur dramatics participants increased slightly, just under 30 till 2005, then decreased sharply, making it less than 10 in 2020.
The table tennis started at just over 10 members and stood at 20 in 2010. However, they rose dramatically in the 2nd decade, making it the second-highest category after the film club. The musical performance category had 0 members till 2005, but they grew steadily with just under 20 participants in 2020.
