Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The student successfully covers all parts of the task by reporting the main features and making relevant comparisons across the five activities over the twenty-year period. A clear overview is provided in the second paragraph, highlighting the overall dominance of the film club and the significant growth of table tennis. Key data points are cited to support the descriptions, such as the peak of table tennis reaching 53 participants in 2020 and the film club remaining popular at around 60 to 66 participants. However, there are some minor data inaccuracies and contradictions, such as stating that the film club rose to 66 in 2010 when the graph shows it was approximately 60. Despite these minor lapses, the main trends are adequately captured, earning a Band 6.5.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The response is organized into four logical paragraphs, including an introduction, an overall summary, and two body paragraphs detailing specific activities. Cohesive devices are used to guide the reader through the data, with phrases like 'Overall', 'In contrast', 'Meanwhile', and 'Turning to'. However, referencing and cohesion are occasionally faulty or mechanical, and paragraphing could be smoother. For example, some sentences are run-together without proper punctuation, and transitions between ideas within sentences feel slightly clumsy. Nevertheless, there is a clear overall progression that warrants a Band 6.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common items such as 'significants growth', 'fluctuated', and 'upward trend'. However, there are several noticeable lexical errors, awkward word choices, and spelling mistakes throughout the text, including 'informations', 'canditates', 'desipte', 'Amsteur', 'performanaces', 'grdual', 'high rocked', and 'inclines'. While these errors do not severely impede communication, their frequency prevents the score from reaching a higher band. The vocabulary is generally functional but lacks precision and control, aligning with a Band 5.5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures like relative clauses and comparative constructions. However, grammatical accuracy is inconsistent. There are frequent errors in verb tense consistency, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions, such as 'Film club are choosen', 'Martial arts remained fluctuated', 'both follows a opposite trends', and missing articles. Punctuation errors, such as missing spaces after commas and periods, are also prevalent. Although simple sentences are generally understood, complex structures often contain errors that require the reader to work harder, placing this performance at a Band 5.5.
