Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 5.5)
The line graph tracks the number of participants involved in different activities done in Melbourne, Australia's social center during 2000 to 2020.
Overall, a noticeable rise could be seen in table tennis players and people enjoying musical performances. While on the other hand, people loosed there interest in amateur dramatics, there number dropped to around one third. Film club and martial arts have went through a few ups and downs but sustained there position.
Martial arts participants had been between 30 to 40 in these 2 decades. However, film cubs reached to there lowest in 2010, but a rise can be seen afterwards. These two things did not change a lot.
Additionally, table tennis traces had the most steepest rise during 2010 to 2020. Muscial performances initiated in 2005 and never fall afterwards. In contrast, amateur dramatics is the only onle that increased a little from 2000 to 2005, but kept falling after 2005.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The student addresses all parts of the task by reporting on the main features and making relevant comparisons across the five activities shown in the line graph. An overview is successfully presented in the second paragraph, highlighting the major upward trends in table tennis and musical performances, alongside the downward trend in amateur dramatics and the relative stability of the film club and martial arts. However, there are a few minor inaccuracies in data reporting; for instance, the student states that musical performances initiated in 2005 when the graph shows they started at zero in 2000 and rose by 2010. Additionally, phrasing like "their number dropped to around one third" is slightly imprecise regarding amateur dramatics (which fell from 26 to 6, a drop of more than three-quarters). Overall, the response covers the key features well, meriting a Band 6.5.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The response is arranged logically with a clear introduction, an overview paragraph, and body paragraphs that group related data together. Cohesive devices such as "While on the other hand," "However," and "In contrast" are used to signal shifts between trends. Paragraphing is handled appropriately, separating the general overview from the detailed body points. However, referencing is occasionally imprecise, and the progression within sentences can feel slightly disjointed due to mechanical linking phrases. While the overall arrangement is coherent, the occasional awkward transitions and repetitive sentence openers keep the cohesion at a Band 6 level.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The student demonstrates an adequate vocabulary range for the task, successfully employing terms such as "participants," "noticeable rise," and "steepest rise." However, there are several noticeable lexical and spelling errors that detract from the quality of the writing. For example, the student writes "loosed there interest" instead of "lost their interest," uses "there" instead of "their" multiple times, misspells "musical" as "muscial," and writes "onle" instead of "only." Furthermore, some word choices are unnatural, such as "film cubs" instead of "film club" and "traces had the most steepest rise." These persistent spelling and word-choice errors place the lexical resource firmly at a Band 5.5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing relative clauses and comparative structures. There are, however, frequent grammatical errors, particularly with verb forms and tense usage, such as "have went through" instead of "have gone through" and "never fall afterwards" instead of "never fell afterwards." Punctuation and subject-verb agreement are also occasionally flawed. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur with enough frequency to hinder fluency and prevent the score from reaching a higher band. The grammar is characteristic of a Band 5.5 performance.
