Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The student attempts to address the prompt by reporting on the different activities shown in the line chart. However, there are significant issues with task completion and data accuracy. While the student identifies the film club as the dominant activity and notes the downward trend of amateur dramatics, the response lacks a clear, cohesive overall trend summary in the introduction or conclusion. Furthermore, several data points are misreported or vague, such as stating that table tennis reaches '55 till comming 2020' (the actual value is around 54, which is acceptable, but the phrasing is clumsy) and claiming there was no music performance in 2000 (which is correct, but the description of subsequent years is imprecise). The response falls into Band 5 because the task is only partially addressed, with limited and under-developed ideas.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response is divided into short paragraphs, attempting an introductory overview, body paragraphs for specific trends, and a conclusion. However, the logical progression is weak, and the overall arrangement feels disjointed. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or repetitively, such as 'Same as activities like table tennis' and 'after comming 2005'. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal structure of sentences within paragraphs lacks smooth transitions. Referencing is sometimes unclear, which requires the reader to work harder to follow the intended comparisons. These features place the response firmly in the Band 5 category for cohesion.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

Lexical resource is very basic and heavily impacted by spelling and word-choice errors. The student attempts some less common vocabulary items (e.g., 'dominant', 'significant'), but these are frequently misspelled, as seen in 'melbone' for Melbourne, 'survay', 'tinny' for tiny, 'matrail' for martial, and 'ametuer' for amateur. Furthermore, vocabulary is often repetitive ('fall and rise', 'minor amog all of these'). While the range is minimally adequate to convey the general topic of the chart, the frequency of spelling errors and inaccurate word choices causes noticeable difficulty and pulls the score down to a Band 4.5, rounded to 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The student uses a mix of simple and attempted complex sentence structures, but grammatical accuracy is very low. There are frequent and systematic errors throughout the text, including missing articles ('The films is a dominant'), incorrect prepositions ('in films club', 'on ameuter drama'), subject-verb agreement issues, and tense confusion ('the music also start to rise'). Punctuation is also problematic, with run-on sentences and missing capitalization (e.g., 'melbourne'). Because errors are frequent, cause frequent difficulty for the reader, and there are very few error-free sentences, the grammar profile aligns with Band 4.0.
