IELTS Writing Task 1 question
The graph below gives information on the numbers of participants for different activities at one social centre in Melbourne, Australia for the period 2000 to 2020.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
The line graph illustrates the number of participants who participated in different activities such as Film club , Martial Arts, Amateur dramatics , Table Tennis and Musical performances between 2000 and 2020. These activities were organized at one social centre located in Melbourne , Australia.
Overall , Film club attracted highest number of participants among all others , along with it activities such as table tennis and martial arts were second most choice among the participants. In comparison to this, there was least participation in the certain disciplines such as Musical Performance and Amateur dramatics.
From 2000 Film club was seen to have highest number of participants, which is above 60 in each year , with the slightest drop in 2010. The second most popular choice among the participants was Martial Arts with roughly around 35 participants to start with. There has been fluctuations in the number of participants all along. Table Tennis started with less than 20 participants and approximately 20 in 2005. Subsequently , there was dramatic increase in number of participants from 2010 and by 2020 it was recorded to have more than 50 participants, surpassing Martial Arts.
In 2000, Amateur Dramatics was recorded having under 30 participants , there was marginal increase in year 2005. There has been significant drop in participation after 2005. By the end Dramatics was seen to have least number of participants. Furthermore ,in 2000 and 2005, Musical Performance had zero participants. Gradually the entries increased with 10 participants in 2010. Eventually it surpassed Amateur Dramatics with than 10 participants.
