Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5
The response attempts to summarise the main features of the line graph, noting that the film club had the highest participation and amateur dramatics the lowest. However, the response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, stopping abruptly at 121 words with an incomplete sentence ("The table tennis were increase gently after that it sharply"). Furthermore, there are inaccuracies in data reporting, such as stating that film club participation is 'about 64%' rather than a numerical count, and some trends are misread or poorly developed. Due to the under-length penalty and incomplete conclusion, task achievement is limited.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response attempts an introduction and overview, but the paragraphing is underdeveloped due to the premature ending of the text. Cohesive devices are used to link some sentences (e.g., 'From 2000 to 2010', 'Firstly', 'after that'), but referencing is occasionally unclear. The logical progression breaks down entirely at the end of the response where the final sentence is left hanging without completion, which significantly disrupts the flow and overall cohesion of the writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, with several spelling errors such as 'ane' instead of 'a', 'diffreenrt' instead of 'different', 'highset' instead of 'highest', 'amature' instead of 'amateur', and 'flactuation' instead of 'fluctuation'. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary items like 'fluctuation' and 'decreases', but lexical control is weak and word choices are frequently inaccurate, which impacts readability.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5
The grammatical range is limited, consisting mostly of simple and attempted complex sentences with frequent structural errors. Examples include subject-verb agreement errors like 'the total number of participants... are held' and 'The table tennis were increase', as well as awkward phrasing such as 'which was about 5%'. The text also ends abruptly with an incomplete sentence fragment, demonstrating poor control over sentence structure and punctuation.
