Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5

The student successfully covers all parts of the task by reporting the main features, trends, and comparisons across the five activities over the twenty-year span. An appropriate overview is provided in the second paragraph, highlighting the contrasting trajectories of the activities, such as the film club recording the highest figures and amateur dramatics experiencing a sharp decline. Key data points are accurately cited, such as table tennis rising significantly to nearly 53 participants and musical performances starting near zero and reaching roughly 18. The information is factual and directly reflects the provided visual data without noticeable omissions of major trends. Overall, the task response is well-developed and meets all requirements.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The writing exhibits clear logical organization and progression throughout. Ideas are grouped sensibly into paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs dedicated to specific groupings of activities. Cohesive devices such as 'Overall', 'Furthermore', 'Meanwhile', and 'Thereafter' are used appropriately to guide the reader through the data, although occasional transitions feel slightly mechanical. Paragraphing is used sufficiently to structure the response effectively, ensuring that the relationships between different data trends remain clear and easy to follow from start to finish.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The student demonstrates a sufficient range of vocabulary with good flexibility and precision, utilizing terms such as 'fluctuated', 'gradually', 'continuously', and 'dramatically'. Less common vocabulary items and functional reporting phrases are deployed with reasonable awareness of style and collocation, such as 'recording the highest figure' and 'remaining relatively stable'. While there are a few minor lexical slips, such as the awkward punctuation in 'musical. performances', these do not impede communication. The word choice overall is adequate and appropriate for an academic task report.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The response employs a good mix of simple and complex sentence structures, incorporating subordinate clauses effectively (e.g., 'while others declined or fluctuated' and 'after which it fell dramatically'). Control of grammar and punctuation is generally sound, though a few minor errors occur, such as the stray full stop in 'musical. performances'. The majority of sentences are error-free, and complex structures are attempted with good overall control. Punctuation is generally handled well to separate introductory elements and coordinate clauses.
