Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response attempts to cover the main trends in the line graph, including the significant rise in table tennis and the steady performance of martial arts and the film club. However, there are notable factual inaccuracies regarding the timeline; for instance, the text claims a significant change occurred in 2000 for table tennis, whereas the graph shows table tennis actually started low in 2000 at around 16 and rose sharply only after 2010. Additionally, the overview is weak, lacking a clear summary of the overall trends, and some descriptions are confused or imprecise, placing the response at a Band 5.0 level for Task Achievement.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay lacks proper paragraphing, with the entire body of the response crammed into one dense, unmanageable block of text following the introduction. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or repetitively (e.g., 'on the other side', 'Same as...'), making the logical progression difficult to follow at times. While there is an attempt to sequence information about the different activities, the lack of clear paragraph breaks and mechanical referencing pulls the score down to a Band 5.0.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is quite basic and contains multiple spelling and word-choice errors, such as 'ilustrate' instead of illustrate, 'participents' instead of participants, 'diferent' instead of different, 'Ameture' instead of amateur, and 'steadly' instead of steadily. While the student attempts some less common phrases like 'take a deep dive' and 'gradually success', the frequent orthographic errors and imprecise collocations mean the lexical range is limited and minimally adequate, fitting the Band 5.0 descriptors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The text displays a limited range of grammatical structures, and sentences often suffer from structural awkwardness and missing verbs or prepositions (e.g., 'taking role in diferent social activites by the year 2000 to 2020'). There are frequent errors in verb tense consistency and clause construction, such as 'where Table Tennis stays consistently popular... and take boom'. These frequent errors cause some difficulty for the reader and reflect a Band 5.0 level of grammatical control.
