The graph below gives information on the numbers of participants for different activities at one social centre in Melbourne, Australia for the period 2000 to 2020.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 6.5)
The given multi-line graph tracks the number of participants who took part in five different activities at the social centre in Melbourne, Australia for a total period of twenty years from 2000 to 2020.
Overall, the film club retained it position as the most participated activity throughout these years. A rise could be seen in number of participants taking part in table tennis and musical performances. Additionally, number of participants taking part in martial arts remained steady. However, a decline was seen in number of participants of the amateur dramatics.
Film club remained the most dominant activity for the twenty-year period. It experienced a slight fall in 2010 and a steady rise till 2020 which brought its number to approximately 67 participants. Martial arts remained steady despite some minor fluctuations. The most drastic rise was seen at number of participants of table tennis after the year 2010, at around 19 participants, to around 55 participants in 2020.
There were no participants for musical performances till 2005 after which a steady rise was seen till 2020, at around 19 participants. Ultimately, the amateur dramatics was the only activity that declined. After reaching a peak at 2005, at 29 participants, a gradual decline was seen till 2020 bringing number of participants down to 8.
