Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The student attempts to address the task by reporting on several categories from the graph, such as the Film club, Amateur dramatics, and Table tennis. However, the response falls short of fully covering all main features and comparisons. An overview is attempted, but it is vague and contains inaccurate summaries, such as claiming that 'Amateurs dramatics was less popular at the end' rather than noting its sharp decline from a peak or providing precise details about categories like Musical performances. Furthermore, some data points are inaccurate or poorly communicated, such as stating 'table tennis else was also popular in last moment reach 28 to 55'. Because ideas are under-developed and some key trends are missed or incorrectly stated, the response sits at Band 5.0.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response is divided into short paragraphs, attempting an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs. However, overall progression is weak and ideas feel disjointed. Cohesive devices are either lacking, misused, or overly simplistic, as seen in transitions like 'Formore', 'likewise', and 'At last'. Referencing is frequently unclear, making it difficult to follow the relationships between data points and categories. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal organization of sentences within paragraphs lacks logical sequencing. This corresponds to a Band 5.0 for Coherence and Cohesion.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.0
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, frequently impeded by severe spelling errors and incorrect word forms. Examples include 'actwites' for activities, 'melboume' and 'Austraila', 'Amateurs dramatics', and 'Marital arts' instead of martial arts. The student attempts some less common vocabulary items like 'participants' and 'popular', but lacks control over word choice and collocation. Phrasing such as 'at last moment reach 28 to 55' and 'launch from 2005' demonstrates a limited lexical range that causes noticeable difficulty for the reader, placing it at a Band 4.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0
The student displays a very limited range of grammatical structures. Most sentences contain frequent errors in tense, subject-verb agreement, and basic sentence construction. Examples include 'Film club was more popular social centre', 'Table tennis was rose at the mid period', and 'at first it has 60 number of participants and at the end it reach almost 70.' Punctuation is also problematic, with run-on sentences and comma splices throughout the text. These frequent errors often distort meaning and cause severe difficulty for the reader, fitting the Band 4.0 descriptors.
